Schedule Optimisation
Balance Stock and Changeover Costs

For a given scheduling approach, an optimised trade off between changeover costs and stock costs finds the balance between getting stocks down but changing over too frequently and changing over rarely but with high levels of stocks. The optimum point on the trade off results in:

  • your Economic Batch Quantity (EBQ) - if you are running a ROP system; or
  • your Economic Make Frequency (EMF) - if you are running a CBS system.

There are special considerations to the optimisation process that depend on whether you are:

using a ROP approach ...more
